Additives to Recycle Polyesters Such as PET, PBT, PLA,
Polyamides and ABS

Polyesters, polyamides, and polycarbonates suffer hydrolysis and thermal degradation during processing. That’s why, when you buy a recycled grade, the viscosity is much lower than that of a virgin grade.

If you have experienced problems when trying to extrude or inject recycled streams of polyesters, polyamides, and polycarbonate, it is probably because the polymer chains, after degradation, now have a low molecular weight. This problem can be easily solved by the use of Chain Extenders.

AddiCo 3910 is a highly concentrated masterbatch of AddiCo 9000

AddiCo 3910 is suitable for applications that do not require transparency.

AddiCo 3910 and AddiCo 9000 are excellent chain extenders for nylon 6 and PBT.

For ABS viscosity modification (recovering MFR), the best option is AddiCo 9585, which, even at 0.5 wt%, shows an impressive reduction in MFR.

Chain Extension Using AddiCo

AddiCo 9000 and its masterbatch, AddiCo 3910 are excellent choices as chain extenders for PET. They allow higher melt viscosity, improving processability of recycled streams.
